Press Pause: Your Time for Reflection and What’s Next

How much time are you giving yourself in which to engage with what’s been happening for you personally as well as professionally since we went into lockdown? Typically sole traders and small business owners have been working flat out just to keep going, to stay in touch with key contacts and clients, to upskill quickly so that we can keep on working online – not to mention rejigging home life and taking on teaching duties for children, all without warning or preparation. So well done us for getting this far.

This is hectic. Some find it easier than others, inevitably, but none of us is finding it easy.  What’s giving you energy – what’s depleting it? Do you even have time to notice?

What we need to do is stop, briefly, to reflect on what has happened, what impact it’s had on us, what we’ve learned, what we’ve lost. What we might think of doing next. It’s a kind of psychological self care that couldn’t be more necessary than now.

What it is

Which is why I’m offering a Press Pause session (online, of course) and inviting you to join me in a group of no more than 6 people for a reflective, calm yet stimulating 2-hour session designed to help us notice both the gains and the losses of these last two months, and to start to work out what we need most in order to be strong and productive in the face of what’s coming next.

How it runs

Designed as a Thinking Environment and using all the key principles of Attention, Ease, Equality, Appreciation and Place (amongst others) we’ll begin with a brief introduction to/ refreshment of the core structures of Rounds and Thinking Pairs (vital skills for success in groups online) before working together and in Pairs on key questions such as ‘What is giving you energy now?’ and ‘What depletes you?’ before ending with some consideration of what’s changed and where there is benefit – there always is something of benefit!
